The Fibromyalgia Crusade is a patient-united awareness campaign promoting information, resources and support to aid in understanding and managing Fibromyalgia Syndrome.
We believe every patient has the right to effective medical care and the responsibility to pursue quality of life improvement through a balanced, total-body approach towards managing chronic pain and illness
Seek out a network, in person or online, to gain support from other Fibromyalgia patients who truly understand what it is like to live with this illness. It is very important to have a place to be understood. It is also critical to the success of relationships with healthy friends and family, too.
Awareness is begging to be spread. Lack of funding for research,
continuing education for doctors in practice and a refusal by many to accept Fibromyalgia as a "real"
illness is antiquated and must be changed.
The patients can challenge the status quo
and raise awareness to spark that change. Solitary and sick, it is near
impossible. But there is strength in numbers and any little bit each
person does to promote awareness places patients one step closer to the
respect, recognition and results so deserved.
Fibromyalgia patients are often perpetually exhausted and in severe pain. Frequently suffering from other symptoms and conditions, daily life can become difficult to keep up with. Normal activities such as working, caring for their children, even bathing, may become all but impossible.
There is no
cure for Fibromyalgia, yet. We promote respect for a total-body
approach to wellness. Applying multiple methods and modalities to treat symptoms can be quite beneficial in improving the severity and progression of the illness.
