We Know How You Feel

Fibromyalgia
can be very isolating and extremely painful. It is a hard illness to live with because it is predictably unpredictable and often quite difficult to get managed. Some days are far worse than others and a person's dependability and follow-through can become sporadic and compromised.

Classified as a rheumatic illness, current research shows it is actually neurological in origin. Fibromyalgia is the result of a damaged central nervous system and an excessive amplification of sensory pain signals
.

The 5 Pointed Star of Health

1. Quality and restful sleep

2. Balanced hormones and brain

chemicals
3. Stress management and reduction
4. Balanced and healthy diet
5. Moderate, non-rigorous exercise

Invest In You

A few minutes a day practicing mindfulness can give one the mental strength and clarity critical to survive Fibromyalgia. Prayer, meditation or a variety of other methods can help a person discover calm and strength within themselves. Find peace, find  purpose, find a way to live with Fibromyalgia, not at the mercy of Fibromyalgia.

Balance Yourself

Balanced living is the cornerstone of health for anyone, but especially those who suffer from chronic illness or poor health. We believe in advocating for effective medical treatment and embracing personal responsibility to foster an environment for wellness. Research, educate and modify the areas of life that build core health and when unbalanced, exacerbate or contribute to Fibromyalgia symptoms.

Embrace Your Power

A person holds the power to change their quality of life in their own hands. It is not fast or easy, there is no magic pill or potion, no one answer or quick cure. Fibromyalgia is a very individual experience because it is a very individual illness.  But the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step...

Take Back Your Healthcare

Comprehensive and effective medical care is a critical component to reduce the many symptoms of Fibromyalgia Syndrome. At this time there is no standard of care for Fibromyalgia, and medications and treatments work differently for different people.

The patient is the doctor's employer! Success happens when the patient and doctor collaborate in their efforts to get Fibromyalgia managed. Finding the right practitioner may take some time and trial and error.

Educate Your Friends And Family

Fibromyalgia is the second most common chronic widespread pain disorder in the United States. Sadly the general public and astounding numbers of the medical community are both grossly uninformed and simultaneously misinformed about this debilitating condition. Sharing the truth about Fibromyalgia is an exercise in patience. It may take people a while to grasp the awful reality of what it is like to live with chronic pain and sickness.
The Fibromyalgia Crusade is a patient-united awareness campaign promoting information, resources and support to aid in understanding and managing Fibromyalgia Syndrome.

We believe every patient has the right to effective medical care and the responsibility to pursue quality of life improvement through a balanced, total-body approach towards managing chronic pain and illness

You Are Not Alone

S
eek out a network, in person or online, to gain support from other Fibromyalgia patients who truly understand what it is like to live with this illness. It is very important to have a place to be understood. It is also critical to the success of relationships with healthy friends and family, too.

Spread The News

Awareness is begging to be spread. Lack of funding for research, continuing education for doctors in practice and a refusal by many to accept Fibromyalgia as a "real" illness is antiquated and must be changed.

The patients can challenge the status quo and raise awareness to spark that change. Solitary and sick, it is near impossible. But there is strength in numbers and any little bit each person does to promote awareness places patients one step closer to the respect, recognition and results so deserved.

Reclaim Your Life

Fibromyalgia patients are often perpetually exhausted and in severe pain. Frequently suffering from other symptoms and conditions, daily life can become difficult to keep up with. Normal activities such as working, caring for their children, even bathing, may become all but impossible.

There is no cure for Fibromyalgia, yet. We promote respect for a total-body approach to wellness. Applying multiple methods and modalities to treat symptoms can be quite beneficial in improving the severity and progression of the illness.
